2 months - 8 weeks - can you do it

I'm on a fabric diet.

2 months or 8 weeks - I've to work with what I've got - no new fabric purchases, can you do it too?

Check out what Angela is up to as she's the one with the idea, and why not join in too.

Though I must admit I think this 'diet' will be a thousand times easier than the other diet and exercise regime that I NEED to go on, (and plan to start next week).  No new years resolutions here, they only get broken, but I've some ideas of improvements I'd like to make in my life and any work towards that end will show rewards.

Happy New Year

A New Year is just around the corner - may it bring you blessings and joy, love and happiness to share with all you hold dear.

Hopefully tomorrow, I'll be able to share with you the fabric dyeing that was done earlier today, (I'm hoping that I'll have the backing panel for the appliqué challenge that I'm doing with Marjorie).

In the meantime enjoy your celebrations for bringing in 2011.

Project complete

J has worked hard over the last few weeks - there have been days when things haven't gone right (the bobbin kept paying up) but she got it all completed in time to give to her parents for their Christmas.  What do you think - not bad for a first timer

You can see a better photo on my Flickr page.

We decided to keep the quilting simple but effective.  I advised her what needed to be done, and when required showed her the basics but I'd say she completed 99% of this project herself, including the binding, and she's got some lovely sharp corners.

Now she's wondering what she can do for her next project.

Merry Christmas

It's Christmas Eve and we are all settled here - if it's not be bought, too late.  If it's not in the fridge or larder, tough, we will just have to make do.

Some may consider DH and I a bit Scroogish, but we believe that this time of year is for sharing.  Not necessilarly gifts, but quality time together just chatting, laughing and relaxing, a blessing of the season.  Gifts we share as we have a need to with each other throughout the year.

Everyone has their own traditions and preferences at this time of year, but please let me take this opportunity to wish you all who visit, and those who have become my 'web' friends, the richest, warmest blessings of the season.  Peace and joy to you all at this time.

What's up?

Unfortunately I haven't been sewing, it's just a little TOO COLD in the sewing room at present.

I have been spinning some fibre - here's the harvest toned roving and silk in singles for and plyed.  Looking good!

I'm hoping to save this for some weaving next year, when I get the basics on my Weavemaster loom sorted.  I've also placed a construction order with Dad, and he's kindly agreed to make me a warping frame to help with my weaving preparations.  Other than that I've also been trying out spinning 100% silk top for the first time - it's just lovely.

I think I'll save this too for weaving (if I'm any good).

I thought I'd also share these with you - my brother loves his Land Rover, and I mean LOVES - check out what he did over the weekend to honour it:-

Only Robin (and Louise) could want to spend time doing this - though I must say it is a work of art - well done.  I think they must have scraped up every bit of snow in the front garden to do this, and apparently a neighbour has built an accessible igloo in his front garden for the children to play in - a creative street don't you think?

A bit too small

I know it's cold here, but I think this panel is a little too small for Shadow -

not that he needs it with his hairy coat  and permanent position in front of the log burning stove.

Almost finished

With the ups and downs of last week, unfortunately I didn't get as much done craft wish as I'd have liked to, even though I was on holiday.

One of the UFO challenge pieces is now completed before New Year.

Unfortunately because of the current weather conditions here we didn't have a meeting at Threave last night.  Hopefully we will have a meeting in the new year where we get a chance to have the challenge.

I'm working on Barbara's birthday present, the design is drawn out and I've started some of the quilting.  If it works out properly it will be a super bed runner.

Another little thing I'm working on is this -
